Position Summary
The Preventive Maintenance (PM) Technician is responsible for performing scheduled maintenance activities, inspections, and equipment checks to ensure optimal reliability and uptime of production machinery in a rubber manufacturing environment. This role supports safe, consistent, and efficient operations by identifying equipment issues early and executing corrective actions according to established PM procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Preventive Maintenance & Inspections
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on mixers, extruders, calenders, mills, curing presses, and other rubber-processing equipment.
- Conduct mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic inspections according to PM schedules and OEM standards.
- Identify wear patterns, lubrication needs, and component degradation to prevent unplanned downtime.
- Complete PM tasks accurately and document findings in the CMMS.
Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Assist with basic troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical issues discovered during PM tasks.
- Recommend corrective work orders for items requiring follow-up repairs.
- Support the maintenance team during machine breakdowns as needed.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety protocols and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Ensure PM tasks meet OSHA and facility safety requirements.
- Report unsafe conditions, near-misses, or equipment concerns.
Documentation & Reporting
- Record accurate PM completion notes, parts usage, and condition assessments.
- Update equipment histories in the CMMS.
- Communicate findings that could affect equipment reliability.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude with understanding of bearings, belts, gears, lubrication, and hydraulics.
- Ability to read manuals, schematics, and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Experience in rubber manufacturing.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems.
- Basic electrical knowledge.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, climb, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work in hot, cold, or noisy environments.
- Wear required PPE.
