Job Summary
GenServe is seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined Generator Technician to join our growing team. In this entry-level role, you’ll assist experienced Gen Techs with the service, inspection, and maintenance of emergency backup generators and associated equipment for a variety of commercial, and industrial units. This position is ideal for candidates to work independently on residential units and eager to build a career in the power generation industry through hands-on experience and industry training.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with routine maintenance and minor repairs of diesel, natural gas, and propane standby generators.
- Perform oil and filter changes, coolant checks, battery testing, and fuel system inspections.
- Support diagnostic and troubleshooting efforts on electrical and mechanical generator systems.
- Help load and unload parts and tools for service calls.
- Keep service trucks and work areas clean, organized, and stocked.
- Complete required service documentation accurately and promptly.
- Follow GenServe’s safety guidelines, procedures, and customer site rules at all times.
- Attend internal training sessions to enhance technical skills and product knowledge.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to respond to emergency service requests and ensure timely resolution of customer issues.
Requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical training in diesel engines, small engines, generators, or electrical systems is a must or prior experience.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Basic knowledge of power generation equipment or willingness to learn.
- Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work in field/outdoor conditions.
