Controller

Description

Our client is seeking a Controller to join its growing leadership team. This hands-on role will partner closely with ownership to oversee the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, payroll, and internal controls while helping maintain accurate, timely financial information. The ideal candidate has a strong construction accounting background, enjoys working in a collaborative environment, and is looking for an opportunity to grow as the company continues to expand. 

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end close
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting analyses
• Manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with payroll regulations
• Maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, cash flow reports, and financial analyses
• Coordinate annual audits, tax reporting, and compliance activities
• Monitor financial performance and recommend process improvements
• Partner with ownership to support strategic business decisions and continued growth
• Support accounting system optimization and process improvements
• Mentor and develop accounting staff as the organization grows

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibilities
• Construction industry experience required
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, job costing, and payroll
• Experience with construction accounting software; Spectrum experience preferred
• CPA preferred
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
