Job Summary
The Cook/Server assists with the preparation, serving, and clean-up of quality meals and snacks for students, faculty, and staff. This position works under the direction of the Cafeteria Manager to ensure that food is prepared and served safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established menus, health and sanitation standards, and school procedures.

The Cook/Server contributes to a welcoming cafeteria environment and supports the mission of the Catholic school by treating students, faculty, staff, and coworkers with courtesy, respect, and professionalism.
Job Responsibilities
Food Preparation and Service
- Prepare fresh fruits and vegetables for daily meal service.
- Prepare, portion, and serve food items according to the planned menu and instructions provided by the Cafeteria Manager.
- Set up and break down serving lines and salad bars.
- Refill and clean food bars throughout and at the conclusion of meal service.
- Stock and refill snack racks as needed.
- Properly store unused food items in accordance with food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Safely handle and transport food items, trays, cookware, and other kitchen materials.
- Assist with the preparation and serving of meals and snacks in a timely and courteous manner.
Kitchen Operations and Sanitation
- Maintain food preparation, food storage, and serving areas in a clean, organized, and sanitary condition.
- Safely operate ovens, stoves, dishwashing equipment, and other kitchen equipment.
- Use appropriate caution when working with hot surfaces, ovens, stoves, warmers, and hot food to prevent burns and injuries.
- Safely lift and handle items such as cookie trays in and out of ovens or warmers.
- Report malfunctioning or unsafe equipment to the Cafeteria Manager promptly.
- Operate dish-cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
- Return clean dishes, utensils, and equipment to their designated storage areas.
- Assist with daily cleaning of kitchen equipment and surfaces, including walls, counters, floors, and lower areas.
- Sweep, wipe, bend, reach, and perform other cleaning tasks necessary to maintain a safe and sanitary food-service environment.
- Follow all applicable food safety, sanitation, and health regulations and school procedures.
Job Requirements
- Maintain a neat, clean, and appropriate uniform and professional appearance.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, gatherings, and other required activities as directed by the Cafeteria Manager.
- Report to work on all scheduled workdays and arrive prepared to begin duties on time.
- Maintain a positive and respectful attitude when interacting with students, faculty, staff, parents, and coworkers.
- Protect the confidentiality of all school-related and student information.
- Follow all school policies and procedures and support the Catholic mission and values of the school.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager or school administration.
