Job Summary:



The Lead Urethane Set-Up is responsible for the full mechanical setup, operation, coordination, and monitoring of urethane and dip-molding equipment and processes. This position leads daily workflow within the department, ensures accurate production and quality documentation, supports training of team members, and maintains accountability for safety, quality, delivery, and 5S performance while actively participating in production operations within a moderate to fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform setup and operation of lathe, mill, press, ovens, hand tools, saws, and related production equipment in accordance with approved work instructions
  • Perform and oversee mechanical set-ups, changeovers, process adjustments, and cycle verification for urethane operations
  • Coordinate daily workflow, job prioritization, and production schedules to support on-time delivery
  • Lead and participate in production activities including mixing, measuring, pouring, curing, packing, counting, sorting, labeling, measuring, and verifying quality and quantity of parts
  • Conduct part measurements using calipers, gauges, and other measuring devices to maintain quality standards
  • Read, understand, and adhere to blueprints, specifications, work orders, and process documentation
  • Identify, segregate, and report nonconforming product, mechanical defects, process deviations, or equipment malfunctions; escalate as necessary
  • Complete and review production and quality documentation accurately and on time while maintaining product identification and traceability
  • Provide on-the-job training, instruction, leadership, and break coverage to support team members and maintain smooth production flow
  • Maintain accountability for department safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and 5S/housekeeping standards
  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a moderate to fast-paced manufacturing environment 

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proven ability to perform effectively in a moderate to fast-paced production environment Demonstrated experience in machining and production coordination, with working knowledge of urethane materials, chemical handling, and mixing properties
  • Demonstrated ability to independently perform all essential job functions in accordance with quality and safety standards
  • Ability to read and interpret gauges, measuring devices, specifications, blueprints, and production drawings
  • Competency in mechanical setup, equipment adjustment, and basic troubleshooting
  • Competency in basic math including measurements, decimals, and material calculations
  • Ability to accurately complete and review production documentation, including ERP system entry
  • Consistently demonstrates strong work ethic, initiative, accountability, and reliable attendance


Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to perform basic and intermediate math calculations including decimals, measurements, ratios, and material mixing calculations
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds as needed
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time throughout the work shift
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability related to equipment setup and adjustment
  • Good hand-eye coordination and visual acuity to inspect parts and identify defects
  • Ability to reach, twist, bend, squat, push, pull, and climb as required in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a shared production environment as a member of a team
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors, co-workers, management, and, when applicable, customers
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, coordinate workflow, and multitask in a moderate to fast-paced production environment


Work Environment:

  • Frequently exposed to heat generated by ovens and manufacturing equipment
  • May be exposed to seasonal temperature variations (heat, cold, humidity) depending on facility conditions
  • May be exposed to chemical substances and fumes during normal operations; exposure is controlled through established safety procedures and required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Noise level varies from moderate to occasionally high; hearing protection is provided and required where applicable
