Job purpose

This position is responsible for the daily mechanical and electrical design utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) in support of Clean Air Solutions Engineering.

Principal accountabilities

  • Creates fabrication, assembly, and general arrangement level drawings for mechanical & electro-mechanical products under the direction of the Sr. Applications Engineer and/or Engineering Manager.

  • Assists in the development of new emission control products or subassemblies as a project team member.

  • Develops Bills of Material (BOM) for assigned projects.

  • Reviews specifications to ensure compliance to design and contract requirements.

  • Works with minimal supervision on specific engineering tasks, as well collaborates with Engineering, Quality Control, and Sales when appropriate.

  • Participates in maintaining engineering drawings in a drawing management system, while ensuring document revision control.

  • Completes designs and engineering drawings accurately and on time according to agreed schedule.

  • Contributes in the physical review of systems and helping to maintain a clean workshop.

  • Applies technical understanding and considers options to solve problems and identify risks on task related issues under guidance.

  • Ensures adherence to business/JM EHS/regulatory standards within multiple projects and is active at following EHS standards.

  • Supports warranty and customer claim activities through the claim support system.

  • Ensures adherence to business/JM EHS/regulatory standards within multiple projects and is active at following EHS standards.

  • Comply with all federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations and requirements.

  • Comply with JM company policies.

  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements for the role:

  • Associate or Technical Degree in Engineering Design is preferred; or any equivalent relevant combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

  • Minimum of five 2-5 years of mechanical drafting or design experience.

  • Minimum of five 2-5 years of experience with SolidWorks, including configured models, configured assemblies, and 2D drawings. Must understand the proper techniques for modelling complex mechanical devices. Must be familiar with geometric tolerancing techniques.

  • Knowledge of weldments, sheet metal design, P&IDs, electrical wiring schematics and ASME standards and/or best practices.
