About the Role

The 2nd Shift Distribution Center Supervisor leads warehouse operations at Phillips Industries' Cincinnati facility, serving as the primary on-site point of accountability during second shift hours. This role oversees receiving, inventory management, order fulfillment, safety, and team leadership to ensure operational efficiency and accuracy throughout the shift.

Hours of Operations: 3:30PM to 12:00 AM


In This Role, You Will

Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise, coach, and support second-shift warehouse employees, including work assignments, attendance, productivity, conduct, performance, and compliance with company policies.
  • Assign daily priorities, monitor performance and task completion, and adjust assignments based on operational needs.
  • Train and develop employees on responsibilities, equipment, systems, processes, and safety procedures; provide coaching and additional training as needed.
  • Support employee onboarding and promote accountability, teamwork, and a positive work environment.
  • Provide performance feedback and partner with management on employee performance or conduct matters.
  • Lead daily shift meetings to communicate priorities, expectations, and operational updates.

Warehouse Operations

  • Manage second-shift picking, packing, staging, shipping, replenishment, and material movement based on customer requirements, inventory availability, workload, and shipping commitments.
  • Monitor workflow, staffing, productivity, and workload; adjust priorities and assignments to meet operational demands.
  • Ensure inventory is accurately stocked, organized, and maintained in designated locations.
  • Monitor open and priority orders to ensure timely and accurate processing and shipment.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness, organization, building security, and operational readiness for the following shift.

Inventory Control

  • Perform and oversee cycle counts and inventory audits; investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure accurate picking, packing, labeling, shipping, scanning, system transactions, and material movements.
  • Investigate inventory and shipping errors, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to inventory accuracy, order quality, and warehouse efficiency.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, warehouse standards, and established work instructions.
  • Monitor employee, visitor, vendor, and driver access and ensure restricted areas, doors, gates, docks, and other access points remain secure.
  • Respond to injuries, accidents, unsafe conditions, security concerns, and facility emergencies; document and escalate incidents according to established procedures.
  • Conduct routine safety observations and inspections, participate in accident investigations, and support equipment and forklift training.
  • Ensure work areas, docks, aisles, emergency exits, and common areas remain organized and free of hazards.

Equipment Operation

  • May operate warehouse equipment as needed, including Reach Trucks, Cherry Pickers, Sit-Down Forklifts, Pallet Jacks, Stretch Wrap Machines, Packaging Equipment, and other assigned equipment.

Communication & Reporting

  • Provide daily shift handoffs covering attendance, safety, order status, inventory or shipping issues, equipment or facility concerns, and priorities for the next shift.
  • Communicate and escalate significant operational, staffing, inventory, safety, or facility concerns to management.
  • Track key warehouse performance metrics and collaborate with Operations, Inventory Control, Customer Service, and other departments to support business objectives.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of warehouse experience
  • Prior experience as a Lead, Team Lead, or in a supervisory role
  • Experience operating warehouse equipment
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Certified forklift/equipment operator with experience across multiple machine types (reach trucks, cherry pickers, sit-down forklifts)
  • Hands-on experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory scanning technology

  • Experience leading safety initiatives, conducting inspections, or participating in accident investigations
