JOB TYPE: Full-time Kinship Caseworker 

LOCATION: West Chester, Chester County, PA

SCHEDULE: New employees will work in person in the office for a 60-day period then transition to a hybrid schedule which includes a possibility of up to 2 remote working days per week

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in social work or related field 
  • Experience working with families in social services context
  • Valid driver's license with properly registered and insured vehicle
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Maintain accurate, detailed and current case records on each client
  • Engage family members and identified supports throughout the Family Finding efforts
  • Assure positive engagement and communication between all team members
  • Build relationships with families and service providers
  • Assure both physical and emotional safety to children during the Family Finding process
  • Provide support and guidance to the birth parents and children during the Family Finding process.
  • Connect kin with resources and provide concrete needs or assistance when identified
  • Ensure cultural competency while working with birth family and all team members
  • Communicate to birth parents, foster parents, kinship parents and all other team members during the referral process for Family Finding Services
  • Provide visitation in the community or family setting when authorized
  • Conduct all meetings contained within Kevin Campbell’s Family Finding model to include Alignment meetings, Blended Perspective meetings, Decision Making meetings and Lifetime Network meetings.
  • Provide support and training to families within the kinship process, as well as provide help with completing the Resource Home Study
  • Relay summary information on each family to the Program Coordinator and his/her appointed designee at regularly scheduled supervisory meetings
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings, supervisory conferences and in-service training sessions and all staff training
  • Undertake any appropriate assignment requested by the Program Coordinator
  • Assist in transportation of children to family meetings as required
  • Obtain at least forty hours of formal staff training per year, which will include CPR certification and American Red Cross First Aid
  • Assess the home environment at every home visit, where the child is residing, for safety issues 
  • Assess each child for signs of abuse or neglect at every face-to-face contact and report as a mandated by the Child Protective Services Law all cases of suspected child abuse and/or neglect within 24 hours.
  • Testify in court as requested and attend team meetings to report on family’s progress.
