Human Resources Director
Right at Home Des Moines is seeking a Human Resources Director to provide strategic and operational leadership for the organization’s human resources function. This position develops and executes HR strategies that support organizational goals, strengthen employee engagement and retention, ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, and foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.
The HR Director serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and managers while providing leadership across talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, organizational development, HR policies, compliance, and workforce planning.

Essential Responsibilities of a Human Resources Director
- Â Develop and implement a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with organizational objectives and business priorities.
- Advise executive leadership and managers on employee relations, workforce planning, organizational development, and employment matters.
- Serve as Hiring Manager who leads recruitment, selection, onboarding, and retention strategies to attract and retain qualified employees.
- Oversee performance management processes, including goal setting, performance reviews, coaching, corrective action, and succession planning.
- Develop and maintain competitive compensation, benefits, and total-rewards programs in collaboration with leadership and external partners.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Develop, review, and maintain employee handbooks, HR policies, procedures, and related documentation.
- Lead investigations and resolution of employee relations matters, including complaints, workplace conflicts, and policy concerns.
- Oversee HR systems, personnel records, reporting, and workforce analytics while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.
- Establish HR metrics and reports to evaluate recruitment, turnover, retention, engagement, compensation, and other workforce trends.
- Maintain a culture of professionalism, respect, inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by executive leadership.
Required Qualifications for a Human Resources Director
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- 2+ years of progressive HR experience, including significant leadership or management responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience with employee relations, performance management, recruitment, compensation and benefits, and HR compliance.
- Strong knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations.
- Experience developing and implementing HR policies, programs, and organizational initiatives.
- Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive employee matters with professionalism and discretion.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with employees, managers, and executive leadership.
- Strong organizational and project-management skills.
