Collins has an opening for a Construction Engineering Technician in our Salt Lake City, Utah office. This role offers the chance to work with industry leaders on bridge inspection for UDOT while using innovative technology. This position will provide the opportunity for growth, where continuing development and participation in professional societies will be encouraged and supported. The Construction Engineer Technician is an integral part of the construction management team and will work under the guidance of the Project Leader.   TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Technical Conducts inspections, scheduling, and oversight for the construction of heavy highway structural projects. Solves technical problems and guides solutions through the delivery process. Monitors contractor conformance to quality, performance, and specifications for assigned construction activities. Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records. Assists in the completion of reports. Keeps the Project Manager informed of workload, progress, and daily activities. Proactively interacts with contractors to track crew activities and equipment on the project. Actively observes and demonstrates appropriate safety practices. Performs field work as required, which may include nights and weekends. Performs other duties as assigned.   *Relocation is available Click HERE to see the variety of benefits Collins has to offer.   QualificationsQualifications Education and/or Experience: A 2-year technical degree or experience in trades. General engineering knowledge of staging, structural construction, electrical construction, utility construction, roadway construction, and bridge construction. Extensive use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and construction management databases/tracking software is required for this role. Ability to obtain certifications for material sampling/testing for aggregates, concrete, asphalt, grading, etc. (ACI, NICET, or state certifications) Ability to obtain certifications for inspection of roadways, bridges, coatings, etc. (NICET or state certifications) Valid driver’s license.   Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
