Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations by coordinating production activities, supporting employees, maintaining workflow efficiency, and ensuring quality and safety standards are consistently achieved. This role partners closely with Production Management, Operations, Quality, Design, Shipping, and Human Resources to keep production moving while developing a high-performing team.

This is a working leadership position, requiring both strong supervisory skills and a willingness to assist on the production floor when needed.

What You'll Do

  • Supervise daily production operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals.
  • Coordinate and prioritize production schedules based on customer demand and operational requirements.
  • Monitor workflow to ensure jobs move efficiently through each manufacturing process.
  • Support on-time delivery by tracking production progress and removing operational roadblocks.
  • Lead, coach, and motivate production employees while promoting accountability and teamwork.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, work instructions, and safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Production Manager and Compliance & Workforce Development Manager on employee training, onboarding, and performance development.
  • Assist with scheduling, overtime assignments, staffing adjustments, and labor allocation.
  • Maintain production documentation, tracking systems, and operational records.
  • Communicate production status with leadership, engineering, purchasing, shipping, and other departments.
  • Coordinate production readiness to support monthly operational goals.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement practical solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Provide hands-on support in manufacturing operations when production demands require.
  • Cross-train and maintain working knowledge of jobs performed by assigned team members.
  • Understand manufacturing processes and production flow for all assigned departments.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety, quality, efficiency, and employee engagement.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of production scheduling, workflow management, and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience leading teams in fabrication, machining, welding, assembly, or industrial manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Ability to coach employees while maintaining accountability and high performance expectations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, production software, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read production documents, work orders, and manufacturing drawings is preferred.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of manufacturing leadership experience
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma principles
  • Experience in metal fabrication or precision manufacturing
  • Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • OSHA and workplace safety knowledge
