Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for someone to join our Process Engineering team in Manufacturing Operations as an Equipment Maintenance Specialist I in West Lafayette, Indiana. As an Equipment Maintenance Specialist Iyou’llbe responsible forperforming basic preventive maintenance on production equipment under moderate directionand guidance. 

A typical day as an Equipment Maintenance SpecialistImight include: 

  • Evaluate equipment condition during preventive maintenance and elevate needed corrective actions as appropriate. 
    3. Make accurate entries to the equipment maintenance database. 

  • Learning and applying SEL Values, Principles of Operation, and World Class Manufacturing Principles. 

This job might be for you if: 

  • You have an associate’s degree in electronic technology or equivalent experience. 

  • You have a basic understanding of electronic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic technology and theory. 

  • You have experience maintaining and performing preventive maintenance on production equipment. 

  • You have basic knowledge of analog and digital electronics. 

  • You have basic knowledge of modern test equipment used to diagnose equipment failures. 

  • You have expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access. 

  • You have the ability to accept and understand direction, learn new skills and assume new responsibilities with a positive attitude. 

  • You have the ability to perform assigned tasks under direct guidance. 

  • You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills. 

  • You have the ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities. 

  • You have the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment. 

It is a plus if you have: 

  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated manufacturing equipment, including analog, digital, and microprocessor circuits as well as vision and robotics systems. 

  • Basic knowledge of programming automated production equipment. 

  • Basic knowledge of printed circuit board assembly, mechanical assembly, and cable assembly processes

  • Sit and/or stand at least 8 hours

Travel

Must be willing and able to travel during the first 4-6 months of employment for training, totaling approximately 8-12 weeks in two-week increments.

Pay Range Data: $25.96-$38.37 per hour

Our compensation ranges are based on the responsibilities of the role. Starting pay is determined individually and considers factors such as relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and training. Candidates may be considered at different levels based on their background. As a result, pay may vary to align with the level of the role.
