Description

Due to Satterfield & Pontikes' continued growth and expansion, we are adding an Assistant Superintendent to our Austin team. We have a strong portfolio of active projects throughout the area, supported by a substantial backlog of upcoming work valued between $20 million and $300 million. Our project pipeline spans a variety of market sectors including education, healthcare, mixed-use, and other commercial construction projects. In this role, you will support project field operations, coordinate subcontractors and vendors, maintain safety and quality standards, and assist the Superintendent in delivering successful projects from startup through closeout.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist the Superintendent with scheduling and coordination of subcontractors and material deliveries
  • Ensure incoming materials are properly inspected for quantity and quality, and that receiving documentation is completed accurately and forwarded as required
  • Support the coordination, scheduling, and management of subcontractors and vendors
  • Assist with expediting subcontractors and vendors and proactively resolving construction challenges as they arise
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping records and support project cost tracking efforts
  • Assist with project planning and the development and execution of pre-job plans
  • Support the Superintendent in determining construction methods and project execution strategies
  • Ensure compliance with all jobsite reporting requirements, including daily reports, SOS entries, weekly unit reports, two-week look-ahead schedules, and monthly schedule updates
  • Assist Project Managers with submittal schedules, contract requirements, and company reporting standards
  • Attend and participate in project meetings and jobsite coordination meetings
  • Support jobsite safety planning, inspections, documentation, and compliance efforts
  • Maintain quality standards consistent with company expectations and project requirements
  • Identify potential change orders and back charges that may impact project profitability and ensure appropriate documentation is maintained
  • Assist with project closeout activities in accordance with contract documents
  • Monitor labor and material needs and communicate requirements to the Superintendent
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of experience as a Field Engineer or Assistant Superintendent with a Commercial General Contractor
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction practices and field operations
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to effectively coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders
  • Knowledge of construction safety requirements and best practices
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a team-oriented attitude
