Where You’ll Fit
The In-House Design Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing all civil, architectural and design efforts for the company’s multifamily development and commercial construction projects. This role oversees design from early concept through construction documents, working closely with internal teams and external consultants to ensure plans are coordinated, buildable, and aligned with project goals.Â
While the candidate for this position does not hold an architectural seal, the Design Manager plays a critical role in managing the full design process, coordinating civil and architectural efforts, and serving as the primary internal point of contact for design-related matters.Â
In addition, this role may assist with select third-party projects by performing initial architectural evaluations for renovations, repositioning, or feasibility studies as capacity allows.Â

What You’ll Build:Â
Architectural Design CoordinationÂ
- Manage architectural design efforts for multifamily projects from concept through construction documentsÂ
- Coordinate with external licensed architects for sealed drawings and complianceÂ
- Review plans for constructibility, consistency, and alignment with project budgets and schedulesÂ
- Lead internal design reviews and coordinate revisionsÂ
- Serve as the primary design liaison between development, construction, preconstruction, and consultantsÂ

Civil & Consultant CoordinationÂ
- Coordinate civil engineering efforts in conjunction with architectural designÂ
- Ensure alignment between site, civil, and building plansÂ
- Track design milestones, deliverables, and consultant timelinesÂ
- Identify and resolve coordination issues early to avoid downstream conflictsÂ

Development & Construction SupportÂ
- Support pre-construction with design clarification and coordination during estimatingÂ
- Assist construction teams with plan interpretation and design-related questionsÂ
- Help manage design changes and revisions throughout constructionÂ
- Participate in meetings related to design, permitting, and project planningÂ
Â
Third-Party & Special Projects (as capacity allows)Â
- Perform initial architectural evaluations for renovation, repositioning, or feasibility studiesÂ
- Review existing plans and conditions for third-party or internal assessment workÂ
- Provide high-level design input and recommendationsÂ
Â
QualificationsÂ
- Professional experience in architectural design, design management, or project coordinationÂ
- Experience with multifamily projects strongly preferredÂ
- Licensure not required; experience coordinating with licensed architects is essentialÂ
- Strong understanding of construction documents, plan reading, and design coordinationÂ
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneouslyÂ
- Clear communicator who can bridge design, development, and construction teamsÂ

Software & Technical SkillsÂ
- Proficiency in architectural design software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar)Â
- Ability to review and markup drawingsÂ
- Familiarity with coordination tools and document management platformsÂ
- Strong organizational and documentation skillsÂ
