Unit Description

Southland Casino Hotel, owned and operated by Delaware North, features more than 2200 slot machines, live blackjack, craps, and roulette tables, simulcast wagering, and sportsbook. Our new hotel features 300 luxurious rooms and suites. Southland is located in West Memphis, Arkansas, only a short drive from downtown Memphis, Tennessee.


Responsibilities

  • Patrol casino floor and respond to potential disturbances or encounters which could become violent
  • Mitigate disputes between customers or customers and associates by using proven training and de-escalation techniques. If those methods fail to resolve the issue, the guards will be responsible for moving the disturbance off the floor away from other guests using trained and proven techniques
  • In the event of a physical disturbance use proven control and threat mitigation techniques to safely and quickly end the disturbance
  • Respond to incidents throughout the casino and parking lot that fall within the officers response criteria
  • Respond to serious medical issues throughout the casino property to assist other first responders
  • Engage in regular training exercises and conduct training scenarios with other security staff to promote awareness of the techniques which will be used to subdue violent guests by the Security Officer III staff
  • Conduct all typical functions of a security officer as outlined in the job description for a security officers I and II
  • Operate Motor Vehicle when necessary

Qualifications

  • High School or Equivalent required
  • Law enforcement or related experience a plus
  • Gaming background a plus
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, pass a MVR check and drug test
  • Ability to complete detailed reports for incidents which occur that must be correct, concise and completed in a timely manner which could later be needed for a variety of reasons including legal actions
  • Basic Math skills
  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision, learn quickly and stay focused on the task
  • Ability to work across departmental lines with customers & vendors
  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when handling guest complaints/issues
  • Must be able to be licensed by State Gaming Commission
  • Must be able to Operate Motor Vehicle when necessary

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to maintain poise and calm demeanor in stressful situations
  • Physical ability to stand and walk long periods of time and engage in rigorous activity when needed
  • Ability to complete a very strenuous physical training course involving control and take down tactics TBD by management staff
  • Flexibility to work varying hours depending on need
  • Vision must be sufficient that the Officer is not restricted in the performance of duties day or night
