The Civil Engineer supports the design, engineering, and construction planning of Holtec's spent fuel storage installations at nuclear power plants across the United States and internationally. This role is responsible for developing civil engineering designs, construction drawings, technical specifications, and engineering analyses that support large-scale heavy civil infrastructure projects. Working within the Civil Design & Construction team, the engineer contributes to site development, reinforced concrete structures, grading and drainage systems, geotechnical evaluations, and construction support activities while ensuring compliance with applicable industry codes, standards, and nuclear quality requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare civil engineering design packages including site layouts, grading and drainage plans, utility designs, and reinforced concrete structural details.
- Develop engineering calculations and technical analyses, including concrete design, geotechnical evaluations, slope stability assessments, and water resource studies.
- Generate comprehensive construction drawings and supporting engineering documentation using AutoCAD and related design software.
- Develop technical specifications, scopes of work, and bid documents for heavy civil construction projects, typically exceeding $10 million in value.
- Support construction planning and develop project-specific procedures to ensure construction process control and quality compliance.
- Review shop drawings, vendor submittals, and technical documentation for compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
- Provide technical support during active construction projects, including responses to field questions and design clarifications.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support project execution and design integration.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable civil engineering codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and nuclear industry expectations.
- Travel periodically to project sites and nuclear facilities to support engineering and construction activities.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Familiarity with applicable civil engineering codes and standards such as ACI, ASTM, and AASHTO.
- Experience using AutoCAD or similar computer-aided drafting and design software.
- Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) methods and applications.
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access authorization to a nuclear power plant or other NRC-licensed facility.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Nuclear industry experience.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Fundamentals of Engineering (FE), or Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
- Experience supporting large-scale civil infrastructure or heavy construction projects.
- Knowledge of construction methods, site development, and reinforced concrete design.
- Strong technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Compensation:
- Annual compensation based on skills and experience ranging from $100,000 to $145,000
- Leveling: This position may be filled at the Associate Civil Engineer, Civil Engineer I, Civil Engineer II, Civil Engineer III, or Senior Engineer level. Placement will be based on the candidate's education, professional licensure, technical expertise, and relevant experience.
