Advocates, Inc. is seeking a Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to work with a friendly and social young man with a disability. He is looking for someone to assist him with increasing his communication and independent living skills, along with staying involved in recreational activities. The ideal candidate is friendly, caring, reliable, engaging, and enjoys helping others. Related experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required. Reliable transportation is required. Background check, fingerprinting, and DMV record check with be conducted prior to hiring. Hours and days of work available Up to 15 hours per week Mondays / Wednesdays: 5pm-8pm Fridays: 9am-5pm Pay rate: $25/hour when providing direct support. The hourly rate for indirect/training is $16/hour. Ability to handle physical aspects of the job, including sitting, standing, using hands to reach, walk, push, or lift up to 50 pounds. Desired Skills and Abilities: previous experience working 1:1 in a related service environment preferred. Knowledge of disability related issues preferred. The Mentor is paid at the provider’s rate for the service based on an assessment of the specific support needs of the individual in the areas of behavioral support, communication support, and physical support needs.
