ChildNet, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit community-based care (CBC) agency servicing Broward and Palm Beach County. We are contracted with the State of Florida, Department of Children and Families, to provide case management support to abused, abandoned, and neglected children. ChildNet is nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and employs over 600 staff at its location in Ft Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, Florida.

Job Summary: This position provides ongoing diligent search efforts for case management staff to locate parties whose whereabouts are not known; coordinates with CA’s as needed.

Essential Functions:

The items listed below are intended to provide an overview of the essential functions of the job. This is not an exhaustive list of all functions and responsibilities that the position may be required to provide.

  • Conduct diligent search efforts with contacts from law enforcement agencies, family members, community resources, and relevant sources.
  • Request diligent search information from federal, state, local, out-of-state, and international agencies to locate missing individuals. Submit legal requests to the Legal Department to obtain ex-parte orders from the Office of Attorney General.
  • Conduct online research for existing or current information on missing parents. Access the Department of Juvenile justice database to provide face sheet information to case management staff for children with a criminal history.
  • Verifies the diligent search process is complete. Prepares the Affidavit of Diligent Search (ADS) for case management staff to submit to the court.
  • Gather birth certificates for Child Advocates and generate notifications to county hospitals for missing and pregnant children.
  • Build relationship with parents and prospective parents to facilitate continuous contact with ChildNet case management staff.   
  • Maintain diligent search case files for ChildNet clients while placed at assigned service centers. Prepare tracking logs of activities.
  • Provide case management staff with updated information in preparation for court hearings and Judicial Reviews.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS:

 Years of Experience:

  • One (1) year of experience working with Internet Databases 
  • One (1) year of experience performing Administrative tasks

 Education/Licenses/Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
