Job Purpose: The Store Manager leads the day-to-day operations of the museum retail store, ensuring an exceptional visitor and member experience while supporting sales performance, operational excellence, inventory accuracy, and alignment with the Museum’s mission, exhibitions, programs, and brand standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Oversee daily store operations to ensure standards, procedures, and service expectations are consistently executed. Maintain a visible and supportive floor presence, providing guidance, coaching, and conflict resolution as needed. Create and manage the store schedule to support business needs, visitor traffic, events, and staffing coverage. Lead, train, and support store staff to deliver knowledgeable, welcoming, and sales-focused service. Maintain organized and accurate records for invoices, purchase orders, consignment reports, transfer requests, check requests, and related administrative        documentation. Partner with the Director of Retail Operations on sales goals, promotions, vendor activity, merchandising priorities, and operational improvements. Monitor inventory processes, including cycle count reporting, discrepancy follow-up, receiving support, damages reporting, and stock replenishment. Maintain appropriate levels of store supplies and oversee ordering through approved vendors. Support product receiving, processing, tagging, merchandising, and back-of-house organization in partnership with operations staff. Ensure exhibition catalog movement is tracked accurately, including incoming and outgoing inventory activity. Promote loss prevention awareness by monitoring floor activity, product handling, and compliance with store procedures. Collaborate with Museum departments to support retail opportunities connected to exhibitions, member programs, donor events, special events, and visitor engagement initiatives. Qualifications:  Retail management or supervisory experience, preferably in a museum, cultural institution, specialty retail, or visitor-facing environment. Strong customer service, leadership, coaching, and communication skills. Experience with POS systems, inventory management, scheduling, cash handling, and operational reporting. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Powerpoint. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced public setting. Ability to work collaboratively with internal departments, vendors, artists, and external partners. Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and special events as business needs require. Physical Requirements: The person in this position must be able move about inside and outside the office; to frequently communicate with managers and employees, ability to access and operate computer and other office equipment; and ability to lift, move or carry up to ten (10) pounds. Hours & Compensation : Monday-Friday 9am-5pm (weekends as needed) Full-Time, Non-Exempt Compensation: Commensurate with experience Location Requirements: At the time of employment, employees are expected to be located within reasonable commuting distance of the museum. Commuting Distance means they are located in South Florida, and able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
