We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer – Architectural Millwork to oversee the technical engineering and development of high-end custom millwork projects. This role focuses on translating architectural designs, field conditions, and client requirements into accurate, production-ready engineering packages for luxury residential and architectural interiors.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in architectural millwork engineering, advanced drafting, and manufacturing processes, with a strong understanding of cabinetry, casework, closets, countertops, architectural woodwork, hardware, joinery, CNC production, and installation. This is primarily a technical engineering and manufacturing role, with project management experience considered a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical engineering and development of custom architectural millwork projects from design through fabrication and installation.
  • Develop and review detailed shop drawings, production drawings, cut lists, and fabrication documentation.
  • Convert architectural plans, design specifications, and field measurements into accurate, buildable production drawings.
  • Engineer custom cabinetry, casework, closets, countertops, architectural woodwork, and specialty interior components.
  • Review projects for constructability, manufacturability, material requirements, hardware, joinery, and installation requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, designers, drafters, CNC programmers, production teams, installers, and shop leadership.
  • Identify and resolve design conflicts, dimensional discrepancies, material issues, and fabrication challenges before production.
  • Support CNC programming, material optimization, fabrication planning, and manufacturing workflows.
  • Ensure engineering packages are complete, accurate, and aligned with production and installation requirements.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to CAD designers, drafters, and junior engineering staff.
  • Assist with quality control throughout engineering, fabrication, and installation.
  • Develop and improve engineering standards, drawing procedures, workflows, and technical processes.
  • Provide engineering solutions for complex and highly customized millwork conditions.
  • Extensive experience in architectural millwork engineering, drafting, or technical design.
  • Strong background in high-end or luxury residential millwork.
  • Proven experience engineering custom cabinetry, casework, closets, countertops, architectural woodwork, or similar products.
  • Advanced ability to produce shop drawings and production-ready drawings.
  • Strong understanding of CNC manufacturing workflows and fabrication processes.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, AlphaCAM, Rhino, KCD, or comparable software.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications, construction documents, design details, and field measurements.
  • Thorough knowledge of millwork materials, hardware, joinery, construction methods, fabrication, and installation.
  • Experience collaborating directly with manufacturing and shop teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Previous experience providing technical leadership or mentoring junior designers, drafters, or engineers is preferred.
  • Luxury residential construction or custom home experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical priorities while meeting project and production deadlines.
