Summary
The Assistant Director, Live Events and Video Services is responsible for the execution of live events by overseeing equipment, ideation, and the creative process in preparation of graphics and videos. This role will work with the Director and Sr. Director to brainstorm new and innovative ways to enhance the Army West Point Athletics brand for Live Events through video, graphic, and other elements. This role also involves coordinating with other departments to ensure seamless integration of multimedia elements and managing post-event reviews to continually improve the quality and impact of future events.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesÂ
40% Creative Strategy for Content Creation and Video ProductionÂ
- Serve as a technical director and/or producer for live broadcast to coordinate camera and graphic crews to ensure high-quality programming.Â
- Manage pre-production planning and live show execution.
- Design and develop graphics (lower thirds, starting lineups, etc) for broadcasts.
- Create new and unique video opens for Army West Point Broadcast that enhance the atmosphere around the Live Event.Â
- Creates and indexes/uploads melts from each live event and creative b-roll on Dropbox.
- Fulfills highlight requests from external entities.
- Serve as live events representative on conference broadcast calls to ensure guidelines and rules are disseminated across AWPAA Live Events team.
30% Asset ManagementÂ
- Oversees equipment for live events. Makes sure every single item is accounted for and can be located at any time.Â
- Creatively think of new ways of using our equipment for each broadcast through high quality video, graphics, and other elements.Â
- Moves/sets up equipment from venue-to-venue in preparation for live event broadcast.
- Tests equipment before games to make sure they are up and running two hours before every event.Â
- Troubleshoots equipment issues during live events.
- Conducts inventory checks after every move and at the end of the season, to ensure all equipment is accounted for and stored properly.
- Educate Live Events crew, to include contractors, interns, and cadet managers on the operations of broadcasting equipment to meet the standard set by Army Live Events.
- Act as approving authority for graphic content submitted in-game by crew.
20% Social Platform Brand StrategyÂ
- Develops video and content to enhance footprint on YouTube.
- Building content for media days, coaches shows, and other fan engagement opportunities across all AWPAA social platforms.Â
- Contributing to our story telling initiatives for in-game assets for social engagement.
- Shoots, and produces video and graphic content for Army West Point teams throughout the individual seasons.

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements
Perform duties in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time.
- Frequently moving equipment weighing up to up to 60 lbs. Equipment to include Tricaster, 3Play, cameras, tripods, cables, and other as-needed equipment.
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.Â
- Constantly operates a computer, printer, and phone.Â
- The person in this position frequently communicates with team members, United States Military Academy (“USMA”) staff and vendors.Â
- Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Minimal travel to be expected.
Required Knowledge, Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience may substitute.Â
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and working knowledge of DSLR cameras.Â
- Working knowledge of NewTek Broadcasting equipment.
- Understanding of AJT, NewBlue, and other graphics systems.
- Basic understanding of broadcast setup.
Preferred Qualifications
- A combination of a Bachelor’s Degree and one plus years of creative video and or broadcasting experience in Creative Video and Broadcasting in College or Professional Sports.Â
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and working knowledge of DSLR cameras.Â
- Working knowledge of NewTek Broadcasting equipment, Encoders, and other broadcast production equipment.
Additional Eligibility Requirements
- Must be eligible to work in the United States of America, without sponsorship.
- Must be eligible to work on a military installation, including a willingness to submit to a background screen.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company’s motor vehicle insurance policy.
Pay Range
$48,000 - $52,000

AWPAA expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would AWPAA consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
