Franciscan Healthcare is looking for a Surgical Registered Nurse to join our care team. In this vital role, you’ll provide compassionate, high-quality care throughout the surgical journey by assessing patients, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and evaluating outcomes. From pre-op preparation to post-op recovery, you’ll play an essential role in creating a safe, supportive experience for every patient while working alongside a collaborative team dedicated to exceptional care.

Hours: Minimum 36 hours/week, Monday-Friday, days with an on-call rotation including nights, weekends, and holidays, 8-hour shifts 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess and organize patient data to develop an individualized plan of care and discharge plan.
  • Prioritize, plan, and provide direct care to assigned patients during the pre-operative, intra-operative, post-operative phase I and II.
  • Provide positive customer service to surgical patients and their families.  
  • Initiate, implement, evaluate, and revise patient teaching plans as needed to meet the patient’s learning needs.
  • Relay pertinent information through appropriate documentation and referral to other health team members.
  • Maintain quality patient care by following professional standards, policies, and procedures.  
  • Support an environment conducive to professional practice by functioning as a role model and resource person; Responsible for fostering a team orientated atmosphere.

QUALIFICATIONS:   

Education and/or Experience 

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska
  • Minimum 6 months experience in med/surg or critical care area preferred
  • Basic Life Support or ability to obtain within probationary period
  • ACLS, PALS, and NRP Certifications or ability to obtain within the first 2 years
  • Experience operating equipment in OR and PACU with minimal assistance preferred

 Other Competencies

  • Interpersonal skills requiring courtesy and tact are necessary to communicate effectively
  • Requires full range of body motion with frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching
  • Ability to properly lift position and transport patients (with assistance as defined) 
  • Ability to change from one duty to another frequently
  • Analytical skills to organize and prioritize workload to meet patient needs
  • Ability to stabilize unsteady patient when ambulating
  • Ability to record information accurately and follow instructions exactly
