Franciscan Healthcare is looking for a detail-oriented HIM Records Clerk to join our Health Information Management team! This role plays an important part in keeping patient records accurate, organized, accessible, and secure. Responsibilities include scanning, indexing, and analyzing medical records; filing fetal monitor strips; and fulfilling medical record requests from clinics, hospital committees, and other authorized areas. The HIM Records Clerk will also ensure records are handled in accordance with HIPAA, confidentiality standards, and organizational policies. Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week; Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To be familiar with and comply with FCS, Inc. Human Resources Policies as well as Departmental policies and procedures.
  • To be familiar with fire, disaster, standard precautions and safety procedures and regulations as explained in orientation and the Human Resources policy manual.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with all co-workers, patients and customers.
  • Obtain continuing education on Release of Information and other pertinent topics as necessary and available.
  • Comply with HIPAA Privacy and Security regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education and/or Experience 

  • High school graduate
  • Prior clinical experience preferred 

Other Competencies

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all hospital/patient related matters.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the English language.
  • Computer skills necessary, experience with Electronic Health Record.
  • Ability to bend to file six inches from the floor and to reach files above head level.
  • Ability to tolerate repetitive shoulder, arm, wrist, hand, knee and leg motions.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
