Make a meaningful impact as a Respiratory Therapist by building strong, trusted relationships with patients while delivering high-quality, hands-on care. In this role, you’ll perform thorough respiratory evaluations and assessments, develop and implement treatment plans, and monitor patient progress to ensure the best possible outcomes. You’ll work closely with physicians and care teams, combining clinical expertise with compassion to support patients through every step of their care journey.

Hours: Minimum 36 hours/week, 12-hour days; will include weekend rotation

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs patient evaluation by assessing skin coloring, respiratory rates and other aspects of routine pulmonary assessment.
  • Delivers and sets up equipment and medications. Explains procedures to assure cooperation.
  • Administers respiratory treatments. Checks and records treatments, response and progress.
  • Provides input and directions for overall respiratory care plan. Recognizes medical problems and reports them to physician.
  • Maintains respiratory equipment. Orders and stocks all drugs and supplies.
  • Work with and educates medical staff and other professional staff concerning respiratory therapy modalities and equipment.
  • Performs arterial punctures, pulmonary function screens, EKG’s, etc. as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education and/or Experience 

  • Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy with current license in the State of Nebraska, and have 2 years Clinical experience in a hospital setting
  • CPR certified

Other Competencies

  • Ability to use critical thinking skills to organize workload according to priorities and assess situations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to record information accurately and follow instructions exactly.
  • Skill in operating a computer and calculator; knowledge of computer hardware, word processing and spreadsheet programs, and data communications.
  • Interpersonal skills requiring courtesy and tact are necessary to communicate effectively.
  • Involves walking and standing; May be on feet for most of the shift.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50lbs.
