Job Purpose

The Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient unloading, staging, documentation, and transport of inventory and non-inventory materials while maintaining strict safety and performance standards. This role supports warehouse operations and jobsite activities by ensuring timely, accurate material handling and delivery while upholding company procedures and core values.


What You'll Do

  • Material Handling & Transport: Safely unload, stage, document, and transport inventory and non-inventory materials while maintaining compliance with safety standards. Ensure proper loading procedures, including weight distribution and securing loads over 100 lbs.
  • Warehouse Operations: Assist with receiving, inspecting, organizing, and maintaining accurate inventory within the warehouse. Stage materials for jobs and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Delivery Support: Operate company vehicles and liftgates to deliver materials to jobsites safely and efficiently. Maintain a clean driving record and follow all transportation safety regulations.
  • Equipment & Tools: Utilize material-handling equipment safely. Forklift experience is preferred but training will be provided. Use of hand tools, electrical equipment, and power tools as needed.
  • Jobsite Support: Collaborate with field teams to ensure timely delivery and staging of materials. Construction jobsite experience is a plus.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow all company policies, OSHA regulations, and safety protocols. Perform routine inspections of vehicles and equipment.
  • Flexibility & Team Support: Assist with additional warehouse or operational duties as needed beyond driving responsibilities, supporting overall business needs.


What You'll Bring

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required
  • Forklift experience preferred (training available)
  • Ability to bend, squat, lift, and reach materials weighing 50–75 lbs, and occasionally more
  • Ability to reach heights over 5 feet and handle bulky materials
  • Knowledge of proper loading procedures, weight distribution, and load securement
  • Experience with liftgates and material handling equipment preferred
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools, electrical equipment, and power tools is a plus
  • Construction jobsite experience is a plus
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexibility to perform duties outside of primary responsibilities


Requirement:

This is a union position.  All selected candidates must be willing to join the union, and Collins Electrical Company will assist with the enrollment and sign-up process with IBEW Local Union 340.
