Culinary Services Assistant
Lakeview Health Center & Assisted Living – West Salem, WI
Starting Wage: $18.51 per hour
Schedule: 11:00 AM Start | 60 Hours per Pay Period
Every Other Weekend + Rotating Holidays

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys cooking, serving, staying active, and working in a fast-paced, supportive environment.
What You’ll Do
• Prepare and portion meals for residents
• Follow diet cards and special diet instructions accurately
• Serve meals in dining rooms and on tray lines
• Label, date, store, and rotate food properly
• Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, equipment, and work spaces
• Wash dishes (dishwasher or three-compartment sink)
• Assist with unpacking, rotating, and storing inventory
• Maintain safe food handling and infection control standards
• Support person-centered care and resident preferences
• Work cooperatively with cooks, dieticians, supervisors, and care staff
• Attend mandatory in-services and department meetings
• Uphold resident rights, confidentiality, and safety practices
What Makes You Great for This Role
• Ability to read diet cards and follow meal guidelines
• Comfortable working in a busy kitchen environment
• Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and safety
• Able to lift and carry boxes, push carts, and move through different temperature areas
• Dependable, respectful, and team-oriented
• Able to follow instructions and accept feedback
• Good communication with staff and residents
• Experience in food service is helpful, but not required
Physical Requirements
• Stand for long periods
• Move frequently between kitchen, dish room, freezers, and coolers
• Lift up to 35 lbs and carry food items or kitchen supplies
• Push/pull heavy carts
• Handle hot pans, utensils, and food safely
• Read recipes, diet cards, and menus clearly
Requirements
• At least 16 years old
• Ability to read and write
• Successful background check per Wisconsin Caregiver Law
• Experience in large-scale food preparation is a plus but not required
