A Technical Lead operates under goals and objectives determined by the Production Unit Head or designee. Review and assessment are determined by attainment of goals, monitored by area management. You will be responsible for supporting efforts to safely coordinate maintenance activities, as well as provide technical troubleshooting and process support as required. 

 

 

As a Technical Lead, you will…    

  • Model a positive attitude and good communication skills.
  • Assists Supervision and the Operations Coordinator in maintaining proper safety and environmental practices in the area. Is a safety role model and helps the department model the Zero Incident and Zero Loss of Primary Containment mindset. Fully supports the implementation of safety programs for the department and provides Safe Work Permit support as needed.
  • Performs safety contacts, job safety audits, housekeeping audits, safety inspections, and contractor audits in support of area safety goals.
  • Assists operators to set up equipment to perform various operations and/or produce various products. 
  • Creates emergency work notifications as needed, ensures notification quality and completeness, and eliminates duplicates in the system. Creates planned work notifications as needed and ensures the quality of them as mentioned above.
  • Ensures quality of completed work and clean-up of the area by maintenance. 
  • Ensures equipment preparation, and readiness for operation and maintenance, by ensuring that all the required permits and LOTO’s are completed for all scheduled maintenance activities, this is accomplished by either assisting the operators or completing it themselves.
  • Attends Maintenance Meetings as needed to ensure coordination with maintenance for the next day’s activities.  Will represent the area if the Coordinator and/or Supervisor is not able to attend. Will be the point of contact at turnover for the next shift for upcoming maintenance activities and any permits.
  • Project Support - Will be the operations representative assisting the projects engineering group during equipment installation and commissioning. Becomes the department trainer for new equipment.  Submit new spare part requests forms.
  • Assists Supervision in achieving production and quality control goals, maintaining production schedules, ensuring the safe and efficient utilization of equipment and materials. 
  • Troubleshoots equipment and processes, ensures operators are running the processes in the most efficient manner, and reports all deficiencies to the Supervisor.
  • Provides training as required to promote safe and environmentally responsible conditions, actions, and processes.
  • Provides information for the development of training modules for the various processes and equipment. 
  • Assists the Supervisor and Engineers to implement continuous improvement in the department, helps develop and implement optimization and efficiency ideas.
  • Routinely assists with products/process review and optimization (adjustments within accepted parameter ranges)
  • Assists with the maintenance of production records.
  • Operates a production job if the shift is not fully staffed, or to support safety activities such as CSI observations of other operators. 
  • This will be a 12 hr. night shift position.

Qualifications:     

  • High School Diploma or GED, required     
  • Adapts effectively to change and collaborates well with others
  • Advanced permit writer and mobile equipment trainer, preferred
  • Experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment
  • Good overall understanding of practices in the Refinery Department, including metal security, preferred  
  • 5 years chemical manufacturing experience OR 2 years’ experience with Refinery production, preferred.
  • Experience with SAP, preferred
  • ERT membership a plus
