GENERAL PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to keep Harmons Dairy departments above the competition by training new Dairy Managers and associates on Harmons standards and operations. This person will set the example; supporting and implementing the vision of the Center Store team. This person will also analyze data and reports; identifying opportunities for improvement. They will build relationships with store associates, customers, and vendors, and provide exceptional customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for training new Dairy Managers; follow up on and assist new managers in completing required training
  • Provides Dairy Managers with the tools to ensure the quality, freshness, product assortment, and inventory levels of all products and services the Dairy department provides are maintained
  • Confirms pricing accuracy and signage for all products, paying particular attention to ad items
  • Analyzes Domo, CGO, Roadmaps and other related tools for the Dairy departments and identifies opportunities for improvement
  • Executes, communicates, and ensures proper implementation of sales and merchandising plans
  • Supports and educates, striving to achieve operational goals and a remarkable customer experience
  • Builds and maintains relationships with store associates, Store Directors, and outside vendors
  • Responsible for driving promotions and incentives based on sales goals
  • Responsible for identifying and communicating training material update needs with the People Department
  • Assists with plans for holiday sales and seasonal items and sets
  • Completes assigned tasks efficiently and in a timely manner
  • Sets a professional and positive example to others
  • Communicates openly and frequently with Store Directors, Grocery Buyers, and Senior Director of Center Store Operations
  • Ensures company standards for safety, sanitation, and productivity are maintained
  • Teaches, mentors, and educates associates to help them be successful members of the team
  • Provides honest, direct, and constant feedback to Dairy Managers regarding their performance and areas of improvement; assesses Dairy Managers’ performance
  • Promptly addresses or shares associates’ concerns and/or grievances with their Store Director
  • Assists with quarterly inventory of all Dairy products as needed
  • Follows established company policies and procedures

MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:

A high school diploma or GED is required, and some college education is preferred; five years of grocery department experience preferred; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Current Food Handler’s Permit
  • Must have an expert knowledge of and enjoy working with and handling Dairy department products
  • Must have exceptional leadership and communication skills
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Ability to implement products and programs for the future and gain support of the team
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and balance friendliness with efficiency and maintain focus
  • A good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, email, and the internet
  • Excellent knowledge of Harmons food safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to utilize job-related computer systems and standard office equipment
  • Must have the ability to advocate, analyze, and understand technology to be effective personally and have an impact on business performance
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures
  • Must possess solid communication skills, including verbal and listening skills in order to effectively and efficiently communicate with and manage diverse groups of people
  • Ability to professionally and appropriately handle conflict
  • Must possess the ability to accept constructive review and be accountable for one’s own success as well as the success of your team
  • Required to make logical, significant decisions using general, recognized analytical skills and techniques
  • Must possess integrity, a positive attitude, be mission-driven, and be self-directed with a demonstrated passion for Harmons’ mission and commitment to working collaboratively

Work is generally performed in a store environment with possible exposure to hot, cold, slippery, and wet conditions while working in stores. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand, and foot coordination; hear and respond to customer inquiries.  Also requires standing, climbing, walking, sitting, and bending throughout the entire workday and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds from location to location.
