Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated HIL Systems Engineer with deep experience in real time simulation platforms such as RTDS, Typhoon and dynamic simulation packages such as RSCAD and PSCAD. In this role, you will be a key member in developing and maintaining real-time simulation models of various generation resources including battery energy storage systems, generators, renewables and electric network.Â
This role is pivotal in delivering industry grade, highly efficient and customizable power plant controller solutions for LGES-VT’s energy storage systems.
 Primary Responsibilities
- Build andmaintainHardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test systemsandintegrate physicaldevices (relays, controllers, meters)
- Developreal-timesimulation modelsfor equipmentincludingbattery, generators, inverters,PV, transformers, and electric grid.
- Perform simulation studies to investigate interactions between different generation resources andhardwarecomponents.
- Design and implement control algorithmsin IEC 61131based languages (e.g.structured text, function blocks)forPower Plant Controllerto control entire power plantin off-grid or grid connected operations.
- Perform system commissioning,testingandvalidation.
- Maintainexcellent documentation capturingcontroller designs, projecttimelinesand presentations forstakeholdercommunication.
- Interface with program management, projectmanagementand project engineersto help delivercontrolsfunctionality and performance according to the project specifications.
- Deliverquality products to market with understanding and respect for all phases of the product development process, especially requirements, specification development, and release control.
Key Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 9years of applicable work experience, or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 5years of applicable work experience, or Doctorate in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 3+ yearsof experience insetting up and runningreal-timedigital simulators to perform HIL simulations.
- Expertisecreatingdetailedmodels ofbattery energy storage systems,generators, power electronics converters, gas turbines, and electrical networks and components.
- 3+ years working withRSCAD, PSCADand other simulation tools.
- Working knowledgeof three phase power system operation and power flow.
- Knowledge of inverter operation and control.
- Experience with PLC programming (structured text, ladder logic).
Desired:
- Experience with Schweitzer RTAC devices
- Experience using medium voltage equipment such as inverters and transformers.

Travel
25% of travel is required if you work remotely.
