What You'll DoÂ
As a Mental Health Support Specialist, you'll provide one-on-one support and supervision to adults living with severe and persistent mental illness, helping them work toward greater independence. Support takes place in clients' homes and in the surrounding community, following each client's individualized, person-centered plan. Your work may include:Â
- Helping clients complete steps toward securing stable housingÂ
- Assisting clients in scheduling appointments and providing safe, reliable transportationÂ
- Teaching coping strategies for anxiety and other mental health challengesÂ
- Supporting daily living skills, like budgeting or managing a checkbookÂ
- Providing encouragement as clients work toward their goalsÂ
This role is a great fit for someone patient, communicative, and resourceful — someone who finds it rewarding to walk alongside clients as they grow.Â
What You'll NeedÂ
- 1+ year of experience working with adults with severe and persistent mental illnessÂ
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving recordÂ
- Reliable transportation, active insurance, and current vehicle registrationÂ
- Ability to pass a background checkÂ
- High school diploma or equivalentÂ
- Basic comfort with smartphone apps and email, and ability to complete electronic documentation (e.g., daily session notes) — training providedÂ
