Investment Custody Services is seeking a Team Manager to lead a team supporting custody and asset serving of alternative investments. The Team Manager will lead the Alternative Investments Asset Acceptance Review team. The ideal candidate will lead a team tasked with performing detailed operational reviews on non-standard assets within a range of structures, including but not limited to pooled investment funds, REITs, and BDCs. 

  

Other responsibilities include partnering with an external vendor to support executing client requests and performing asset servicing on Alternative Investments held in Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. brokerage accounts.

Some specific duties of those position include, but not limited to: 

  • Lead and coach team members to identify challenges and develop future state solutions 
  • Develop and maintain asset review frameworks, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements 
  • Perform thorough operational due diligence on alternative investment assets such as private equity, hedge funds, and real estate. 
  • Support and develop an engaged and cross-functional team 
  • Collaborate with internal partners to provide a smooth asset onboarding experience for clients. 
  • Partner with internal organizations, including Schwab Technology, Product Management, external vendors, and other internal business channels, to deliver on the organization’s AI Modernization strategy 
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve workflows, identify best practices, and make the best use of resources. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry participants including other limited partners, general partners, and industry thought leaders through participation in annual meetings, advisory committee meetings, industry conferences and other ad hoc meetings and events 
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging risks, and regulatory developments in alternative investments. 
  • Assess and enhance operational workflows, reporting structures, and risk management protocols. 

 

What you have

  • Three or more years of experience in the financial services industry 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred 
  • Two or more years of experience in alternative investment operations, asset management, or a related field 
  • Two or more years of people leadership experience preferred 
  • A strong understanding of private equity, hedge funds, and real asset investment structures is needed. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change initiatives 
  • Strong leadership, motivational and coaching skills that cultivates a strong and engaging environment. 
  • Possess excellent time management and organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and solve problems in dynamic, multitasking environments. 
  • Excellent relationship management skills and a focus on improving the client experience. 
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risk by adhering to department and firm policies and procedures. 
  • Possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

 

 Preffered 

  • candidates with activ and valid FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.
