Position Overview
The Therapist provides therapeutic services, assessments, and placement planning for youth in the Destiny Center, ensuring compliance with all State of Michigan child welfare and licensing standards. This role supports youth and families through trauma-informed, solution‑focused interventions and coordinates ongoing case management needs.

Reports To: Division Director

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in evaluation, assessment, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, and related interventions.
  • Licensure: Active or limited Michigan professional license (LLP, LLMSW, LPC, etc.).
  • Transportation: Reliable vehicle, valid unrestricted Michigan driver’s license, and good driving record.
  • Clearances: Central Registry, police check, TB test, physical exam, and drug screen required.
  • Preferred: One year of Trauma-Informed Care experience (or completion of training within 6 months).

Key Responsibilities

Therapeutic Services

  • Provide individual, family, and group counseling.
  • Deliver trauma-informed crisis intervention.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and coordinate psychiatric evaluations.
  • Engage families in treatment planning and goal-setting.

Case Management

  • Maintain accurate records, service plans, reports, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with MDHHS, courts, residential staff, and community partners.
  • Develop behavior plans and assist youth in court preparation.
  • Participate in team meetings, FTM’s, and provide placement recommendations.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Prepare timely, professional reports that meet state and agency standards.
  • Maintain complete, updated case files and treatment plans.

General Duties

  • Represent the agency in the community and transport youth as needed.
  • Participate in 24/7 crisis response rotation.
  • Attend required training and uphold all agency policies.
