Are you a dedicated mentor with the heart to guide young men as they transition from boyhood to adulthood? Since 1976, Spectrum Child and Family Services has been on a mission to strengthen children, families, and communities across Michigan. We believe dignity and respect are universal human gifts, and we are looking for a Program Manager who embodies these values while leading our Valor Place open-youth residential program in Detroit.
If you are a seasoned leader who balances decisive action with the empathy needed to mentor youth aged 12 to 18, we want to hear from you. Your role is pivotal in providing the positive role modeling and excellent treatment programming these young men need to become self-sufficient, stable, and competent.
Your Impact as a Program Manager
At Spectrum, you aren't just a supervisor; you are a vital link between our mission and the daily transformation of our youth. You will lead the charge in:
- Mentorship & Coaching: Providing direct coaching and leadership to staff to ensure the highest quality of care and welfare for our residents.
- Operational Excellence: Managing all support personnel and operations, ensuring mandated staff ratios are met and all critical documentation is completed.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensuring our Detroit facility exceeds licensing standards, DHHS requirements, and Wayne County contractual expectations.
- Strategic Leadership: Serving as a primary contact and stepping into leadership responsibilities in the Director’s absence.
Who You Are
We are looking for organized leaders who can respond to challenges with clarity and care. To qualify, you should meet one of the following education and experience paths:
- A bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience in a child-caring institution; or
- Two years of college and 3 years of experience in a child-caring institution; or
- A High School diploma and 4 years of experience in a child-caring institution.
- Requirements: A valid Michigan Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and the ability to pass all criminal history and DHHS clearances.
