LOCATION: Aspetuck Valley Country Club, Weston, CT

DEPARTMENT: Food and Beverage

JOB TITLE: Bartender 

REPORTS TO: Club House Manager / Food and Beverage Manager

COMPENSATION: Hourly Compensation 

BENEFITS: meals and benefit eligible if hired full-time


POSITION OBJECTIVES:

The Bartender position prepares all alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for members and guests of the club, according to professional standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • The bartender's main job is to know the standard drink recipes and be able to mix them quickly and accurately. 
  • Occasionally, members may have their own preferences or recipes for a bartender to follow.
  • Bartenders also check the identification of members and guests at the bar to ensure that they meet the minimum drinking age.
  • Bartenders take drink orders and serve drinks using the Club’s POS computer system to charge members for their drinks.
  • In the restaurant, bartenders fill drink orders placed, but the beverages are usually served by Servers.
  • Bartenders also have additional duties; they arrange bottles and barwares, wash glasses and clean the bar. Bartenders also remove empty bottles and trash and replace empty beer kegs. 
  • Bartenders stock the bar by bringing liquor bottles, mixed drink ingredients, and other bar supplies from the storeroom to the bar. 
  • They keep track of wines, beers, liquors, and other supplies, reporting what is needed to the Food and Beverage Manager.

JOB QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

The following describes the general qualifications and physical, sensory and mental abilities normally associated with performing the essential functions of this position.


Education and Experience:

  • Prior bartending experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Minimum age requirement for this position is 18 to serve alcoholic beverages per CT Legal Guidelines. 
  • Bartenders must be aware of state and local laws concerning the sale of alcoholic drinks.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Unexpired bartender certification 

Language and Communication Skills:

  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills 

Physical, sensory and motor demands:

  • Highly active, multitasking type of environment 
  • Frequent Standing for extended periods of time. 
  • Frequent Walking 
  • Excellent physical fitness, visual acuity and sense of urgency to attend to members’ needs
