St. Vincent’s Behavioral Health Center in Westport is a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility specializing in care for children, adolescents, and adults with mental health and dual diagnosis substance use disorders. St. Vincent’s Medical Center is the first hospital in Fairfield County to be integrated into the Hartford HealthCare network, and part of one of the largest providers of mental health services at several locations in Connecticut.
Psychologist will provide assessment and treatment services to an acute inpatient population across the lifespan that includes individual, family and group psychotherapies. The individual will provide comprehensive behavior planning for complex patients with high risk behaviors. The psychologist will consult to clinical teams regarding care management, provide training to staff and perform psychological evaluations of patients. In addition, the Psychologist is a core member of the department training and functions in an educational role for students and trainees of all varieties. Strong interests in training and education of both trainees and students are required.
In addition, this role will assume responsibilities of facilitating multidisciplinary discussions of and development of individualized treatment plans, the identification of evidence-based interventions and to assist nursing staff in the development of behavioral management strategies to aid in milieu management. In addition, the Psychologist will provide consultation regarding the department’s group psychotherapy program. The psychologist may be involved in providing consultation, behavioral planning and psychological testing for other service areas as well within the department.
- Doctorate of Philosophy in Psychology (PhD.) or Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D.) from an APA accredited institution.
- Candidates must be licensed for independent practice or license-eligible in the state of CT, have training and experience in providing individual, group and family therapies to an acute inpatient population, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be self-directed.
