The Opportunity

Our USGO Heartland-Badger South is seeking a multiskilled team orientated Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Technician who is proficient in troubleshooting, maintaining, and operating natural gas compressor station and meter station control systems, measurement equipment, and other related facilities.

This individual must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, who possesses excellent problem solving, communication, and decision-making skills.聽This position is overtime eligible and extended work hours may be required on occasion without advance notice including nights, weekends and holidays.聽 聽

What you鈥檒l do

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Install, commission, test, repair, and maintain compressor stations, meter stations, communication systems, and other facilities related to the pipeline system

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Perform routine and major maintenance on natural gas and electrically driven compressor units and associated auxiliary equipment

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Troubleshoot, operate, maintain, calibrate, and repair various types of electronic, electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Perform Control and Monitoring maintenance activities on centrifugal and reciprocating compressors

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Maintain power, process controls, programmable logic controllers (PLC), electric generation equipment, microwave multiplex equipment, and orifice meters

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Assemble, install, test, and maintain instrumentation, electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, apparatuses and fixtures, using hand and power tools

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Diagnose malfunctioning systems, equipment, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of the breakdown and correct the problem

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and associated components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustments or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, frequency generators, and oscilloscopes

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Oversee, direct, and perform tasks related to the installation, start-up, and repair of measurement and regulation equipment, such as: various types of meters, recording gauges, flow computers, LCEM units, transmitters, relief valves, regulators, valve actuators, pneumatic and digital controllers, filtration devices, odorizers, and gas quality devices (chromatographs and gas samplers)

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Perform diagnostic tests, accuracy tests, calibrations, and replacements of various measurement and regulation equipment with test equipment such as a Hart Communicator and Fluke meter

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Compile, prepare, and maintain written records related to DOT auditable inspections, accuracy tests, calibrations, odorant tests, equipment change outs, relief valve tests, and gas quality analysis such as dewpoint levels, specific gravity, and gas samples

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Receive and maintain equipment documentation (blueprints, schematics, line diagrams, technical manuals, operation manuals, etc.) and serve as the facility technical resource in their review and use

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Work closely with field personnel to schedule and properly route gas in the event of pipeline right of way maintenance or an emergency repair to maintain delivery to internal and external customers

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Locate pipelines per the Wisconsin One Call center and perform valve maintenance

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc. in SAP

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Will be required to carry a company provided cell phone and to work a rotating on-call schedule

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Other tasks as required

Minimum Qualifications

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 High school diploma or equivalent

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Demonstrated work experience in a related industry

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Thorough understanding of stop work authority (SWA) and safe work practices

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Knowledge and understanding of lock out/tag out (LOTO) procedures

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and related software

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to work self-guided with minimal supervision

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience with controls and measurement systems and instrumentation including but not limited to pressure, temperature, flow, gas and fire detection, pressure regulating equipment and valve operators

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Basic knowledge of instrumentation and electrical troubleshooting

Preferred Qualifications

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Associate degree to include courses in engine maintenance or electricity/electronics

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience with Allen Bradley and/or Bristol controls

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Thorough understanding of the test equipment used to maintain control systems

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience with pneumatic and electronic valves, transmitters, switches, and regulators

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience with various types of gas measurement testing equipment聽

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to interpret technical reference documents

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to work self-guided with minimal supervision

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Medium voltage electrical experience involving switchgear, frequency drives, transformers, and other medium voltage equipment associated with electrically driven compressor units

This position requires candidates to

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Have and maintain a valid driver鈥檚 license and a safe driving record

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Be subject to a rotational on call schedule and work extended days and/or weeks for emergency response purposes

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Be subject to working conditions which include adverse weather and temperatures and cramped conditions
