Job Description Summary

Under the direction of the Education and Training Manager, provides comprehensive training (initial and ongoing) to the Patient Access Department and to all other Hospital areas whose job requires registration. This position is responsible for achieving in depth knowledge of assigned Epic applications and must be able to communicate effectively to end users in a classroom, webinar, e-learning, and at the elbow setting. This position will work with appropriate application teams to ensure necessary training material is created and accurately updated to meet the end user’s needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential functions are those tasks, duties and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the job's purpose and objectives. Following are the essential functions of the job.
Ā 


1. Provides a training program to all employees whose job requires scheduling and registration functions
•   Ā Functions as the primary classroom trainer for assigned applications.
•   Ā Develops an understanding of workflows from an operational and application standpoint.
•   Ā Reviews lesson plans and tests training environment prior to class.
•   Ā Ensures that training materials are updated and available when end users arrive to class.
•   Ā Updates the curriculum based on classroom / end user experience.
•   Ā Adapts teaching method to accommodate different adult learning styles.
•   Ā Delivers training to staff in various formats (including classroom, virtual, and at the elbow).
•   Ā Assesses new hire performance for the duration of training and provides feedback to new hires and their supervisors.
•   Ā Facilitates continuing education sessions for existing staff as needed.
•   Ā Can function on a senior staff level in all areas of Patient Access Services.
•   Ā Maintains positive relationship with end users, operations, application, and training team colleagues.


2. Develops competencies.
•   Ā Assists in writing job standards for scheduling and registration.
•   Ā Assists the Manager in creating competency standards for the Patient Access Service department.
•   Ā Provides remedial help for staff struggling in scheduling and registration.Ā 
•   Ā Uses reports and workqueues to monitor data quality.


3. Embraces technological solutions to work processes and practices. Ā 
•   Ā Possesses a willingness and ability to learn and utilize new technology and procedures.
•   Ā Develops a comprehensive knowledge of the Epic EHR system and continuously updates knowledge as needed.
•   Ā Collaborates with IS application teams to prepare training materials for system upgrades.
•   Ā Understands and supports downtime procedures for all areas of PAS
•   Ā Manages access requests and functions as user administrator for various insurance provider portals.

•   Ā Competent with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.


4. Fosters a ā€œCulture of Safetyā€ through personal ownership and commitment to a safe environment.
•   Ā Adheres to patient identification policies/procedures.
•   Ā Understands individual roles/responsibilities during hospital codes (e.g. Code Disaster, Code Red).
•   Ā Adheres to universal precautions and respiratory etiquette guidelines.
