Job DetailsJob Location: Good Shepherd Nursing Home - Wheeling, WV 26003Pay:Â From $17.00 per hour Summary of the Position: Prepares and cooks food for the evening meal. Works in the cafeteria during staff and residents lunch hours. (work hours 9:00 am - 5:30 pm or 10:00 am - 6:30 pm) Key Responsibilities: Serves food to employees and visitors in the cafeteria at lunch time and also to residents in the dining room. Prepares food in preparation for cooking evening meals. Cooks and seasons food in accordance with dietary standards and in a tasteful and appetizing manner. May assist dietary aides in their duties. To include delivering special requests to resident sections. Delivers refreshments for Activity Department. Maintains hot food at 140 degrees or above before serving. Maintains clean work area. Cleans and sanitizes all equipment used in the kitchen. Performs any other duty as directed by Dietary Manager, Evening Supervisor or Chef. Dresses in a clean manner and uses proper hygiene. Performs duties in a clean manner. Avoids spilling food. Adheres to all health and sanitation standards at Good Shepherd Nursing Home LC. Checks inventory of sliced meats in freezer weekly. When quantity is low, is responsible for slicing these for use by cooks and salad person. To be wrapped in 1 pound packages, dated and frozen. Adheres to posted cleaning schedule. QualificationsExperience/Education: High School graduate, a High School student or equivalent to a G.E.D. Experienced in preparing large quantities of food. Physical Requirements: Must be able to read and clearly understand menus, recipes and written notices for special events. Prolonged standing is a requirement - 75% of workday. Heavy lifting is required - 25-30lbs. Bending is necessary for this position when bringing supplies from stock room, coolers and freezer. Must be able to work weekends, holidays and overtime if needed.
