Job DetailsJob Location: CRC - Wheeling, IL 60090Salary Range: $15.40 - $16.50 Hourly Job Title: Morning Fitness Attendant Job Status: Part Time – Non-Exempt Department: Park and Recreation Services Primary Work Location: Community Recreation Center – Fitness Center Reports To: Membership Sales Manager Supervisory Responsibility: None Position Summary                                                                                                                                  The Fitness Attendant will be responsible for creating a positive member experience by providing a superior level of customer service to Wheeling Park District fitness members and guests. Shifts will be designated by Membership Sales Manager or Health and Fitness Manager. Candidate must be available to work weekday mornings and some weekends as needed.       Essential Job Duties                                                                                                                           •    Maintain and promote excellent fitness member relations and open communication with all current and potential new fitness members; handle any adverse situations with members. •    Greet and direct members, guests and visitors in person and on the phone while answering fitness related questions and providing pertinent information specific to the Health and Fitness Center.  •    Process Point of Sale and membership sale efficiently and accurately. Follow cash handling best practices as outlined in Cash Handling Best Practices R3.19. •    Assist in administrative support tasks as assigned including, but not limited to, general reporting, folding towels, sales calls, lead follow ups etc.  •    Conduct orientation for new members and conduct tours for external visitors and potential members.  •    Maintain a clean and safe fitness floor, perform assigned cleaning tasks and organizing. Clean and check equipment, report any repairs or maintenance needed to both Health and Fitness Center Manager and Membership Sales Manager. •    Following instructions of opening and closing procedures as outlined in the Attendant Operations Guide. •    Attend all staff meetings and mandatory training sessions. •    Maintain members/guest confidentiality by not discussing any incidents or emergencies with other members or giving out personal information such as phone numbers, addresses or usual schedule of visits. •    Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Keep all personal items in staff lockers. Keep fitness desk clean and organized.  •    Performs the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules. •    Support and exhibit the established organizational values of respect, communications, integrity, innovation, recognition, continuous learning, fun, empowerment and people. •    Perform other duties or special projects as assigned by the Health and Fitness Center Manager/Membership Sales Manager.  •    Act as Manager on Duty in absence of Health and Fitness Center Manager/Membership Sales Manager/ Fitness Leader. •    Arrive for each shift in uniform as outlined in the Fitness Attendant Manual. QualificationsPosition Requirements                                                                                                                       Ability to deal with guests and staff diplomatically, handle conflict appropriately and answer questions regarding the Health and Fitness operations. Genuine interest in Fitness/Wellness. Ability to exercise good judgment. General computer skills. Such as Word, Excel, and RecTrac software. Sell and process memberships and point of sale transactions.      Skills and Abilities •    Demonstrate consistent attendance and on-time arrival. •    Must be able to read, write and speak in English. •    CPR/AED certification or be able to earn within 60 days. Working Conditions                                                                                                                                                                                 •    Most activities will be performed indoors. •    Driving to other park facilities will require the worker to be outside. •    Employee may be exposed to cleaning agents and toner chemicals.
