Job Description

Position Summary

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for helping maintain the facility, grounds, and equipment in a safe, clean, and efficient manner. This position assists with general repairs, upkeep, and preventative maintenance to ensure a comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on facility equipment and grounds
  • Assist with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and mechanical maintenance tasks
  • Maintain outdoor areas, including mowing, trimming, sweeping, and snow removal as needed
  • Replace light bulbs and assist with general facility upkeep
  • Follow maintenance schedules and complete assigned work orders
  • Ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and safe
  • Report unsafe conditions, accidents, or equipment malfunctions promptly
  • Follow all safety, sanitation, infection control, and fire safety procedures
  • Assist with moving equipment and supplies when needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Maintenance Director and/or Administrator

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Two forms of Identification (Tribal ID, if claiming Indian Preference)
  • Vaccinations
  • No experience required โ€” training provided
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Ability to work respectfully with residents, families, staff, and visitors
  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds and work indoors/outdoors in varying conditions
  • Must be at least 16 years old

This position may require standing, bending, lifting, and working in various weather conditions. Weekend, holiday, or alternate shift work may occasionally be required.
