Family Practice Center, PC now has a full-time X-ray technician position available for the Watsontown Office location.   Certification with AART is required.

Duties would include digital x-ray, as well as clinic duties.    Position is full-time and includes health, dental, vision, 401K. life, long-term disability, vacation ,sick, holidays, etc.

Job Description:  Radiology Technologist

Job Title:  Radiology technologist

Qualifications:

  Education: Completion of course in radiologic technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologies

  Certification/Licensure:  Current certification (ARRT) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists

  Experience:  One year of experience as a radiologic technologist preferred.

  Alternative to minimum qualifications: None

General Summary of Duties:  Operates radiologic equipment to make clinical diagnostic x-ray films as directed by physicians and performs routine diagnostic procedures.

Supervision Received:  Reports directly to Radiology Technology Supervisor/Office Manager

Supervision Exercised:  None

Typical Physical Demands:  Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for operating and repair of all department equipment.  Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.  Lifts patients weighing up to 300 pounds and places them in appropriate positions for operation of equipment.  Requires eye sight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and review developed films.

Typical Working Condition:  Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

Potential Exposures:  Lead, radiation, Envirocide, CaviCide, Clorox/Clorox wipes, alcohol-based hand sanitizers, hand soap.

Expectations of Position – to include but not limited to:

  1. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to sufficiently pinpoint area for radiography.
  2. Knowledge of radiology equipment and testing.
  3. Knowledge of safety hazards common to radiology including equipment, body mechanics and patient movement.
  4. Skill in properly positioning patients to provide quality imaging.
  5. Skill in training residents, student technologists and co-workers in equipment operation and procedures.
  6. Skill in trouble shooting equipment operation and performing simple adjustments.
  7. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
  8. Ability to apply written guidelines and standardized work practices.
  9. Ability to identify problems.
  10. Ability to communicate clearly.
  11. This job requires access to PHI. HIPAA training is required and HIPAA compliance is expected.
  12. Follow procedures according to OSHA.
  13. Follow procedures according to FPC protocol

Examples of Duties – to include but not limited to:

  1. Positions patients and adjusts equipment for taking x-rays following established procedures.
  2. Instructs patients regarding procedures. Observes patients for vital signs during examination.
  3. Follows prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment.
  4. Selects length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on individual patient basis.
  5. Examines radiologic film for properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification and distortion.
  6. Develops and processes radiologic film.
  7. Maintains examination rooms.
  8. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
  9. Cleans and makes minor adjustments to radiologic equipment
  10. Aids physician in contrast studies.
  11. Participates in training employees, residents and student technologist in equipment operation, patient movement and quality assurance.
  12. Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
  13. Enhances professional growth through education programs, conferences and workshops.
  14. Maintains patient confidentiality.
  15. Performs related work as required.
