Position Summary:
Akicita Federal is seeking a dedicated and licensed Dental Hygienist to support oral health initiatives at the white earth Service Unit, Ogema , Minnesota, Area Indian Health Service.  This role is essential in providing preventative dental care, patient education, and clinical services as part of a collaborative healthcare team serving the Native American community.

Key Responsibilities:
-Perform dental cleanings, scaling, root planning, and polishing of teeth
-Conduct oral health assessments and document findings in Electronic Dental Records (EDR)
-Take, develop, and interpret digital dental radiographs (X-rays)
-Apply fluoride treatments, sealants, and desensitizing agents as needed
-Educate patients (children and adults) on proper oral hygiene, dietary guidance, and tobacco cessation
-Monitor and report signs of oral disease to the supervising dentist
-Maintain infection control standards and sterilize instruments between patients
-Participate in outreach and school-based preventive care initiatives as needed
-Assist in maintaining dental supply inventory and equipment
-Support quality improvement initiatives and clinical record audits

Minimum Qualifications:
-Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program

Current and unrestricted license to practice as a Dental Hygienist in any U.S. state or territory

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (must be current and valid)
-Minimum of 1 year of clinical dental hygiene experience preferred (IHS or tribal health experience is a plus)
-Familiarity with Electronic Dental Record systems (e.g., Dentrix, RPMS)
-Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations
-Ability to pass a federal background check and drug screening
