What You Should Know About the MRI Technologist:

  • Typical Hours are Monday- Friday from 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Position requires call from 8am to 5pm on weekends and holidays. 
  • This position is based within Jefferson Regional MRI Department 

Job Summary:

The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of MR scans and related procedures at a technical level by utilizing equipment appropriately to perform high quality imaging. This position is also responsible for following established standards and procedures and determining necessary adjustment for optimum results. The MRI Technologist ensures safety for patients, visitors and workers who enter the MR zones this includes compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups and patient condition. 


MRI Technologist Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Technical Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science/Radiology/Other related field preferred.
  • Graduate from an AMA accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required.
  • Arkansas Department of Health Radiologic Technologist required
  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist in MRI preferred.
  • BLS/CPR required upon hire or obtain within 30 days of hire. 
  • This is a safety sensitive position.*
  • Minimum Requirements
    1. Must be knowledgeable in cross sectional anatomy, medical terminology and possess generalized skills in medical imaging, general and other special procedures that are performed within the department. 
    2. Strong patient care and communication skills
    3. Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory standards.
    4. Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality images
    5. Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
    6. Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and on-call rotations if required. (Thirty-minute response time for callback.)
  • Preferred Requirements
    1. Minimum of one year (1) experience as a staff technologist or tech extern 
    2. Three years (3) experience in Radiologic Technology, preferably in MRI Technology.
    3. Proficiency and expertise in MRI equipment operation
