What You Should Know About the Technical Supervisor- Pathology:
- Typical Hours: Â 6:30 a.m-2:30 p.m.
- This position is based within Jefferson Regional Laboratory Department
Job Summary:
The Technical Supervisor – Pathology provides scientific and technical oversight of testing within the Pathology Department in accordance with CLIA, COLA, and hospital policies. This position is responsible for ensuring test systems are properly validated, quality assurance programs are maintained, and regulatory requirements are met.
The Technical Supervisor works closely with pathologists and laboratory leadership to ensure accurate diagnostic testing, regulatory compliance, and efficient laboratory operations. In addition to oversight responsibilities, this role performs specialized technical duties including GYN screening coverage and QC review, biopsy gross examination, cytology preparation oversight, and business support for pathologists.
This position focuses on technical operations and regulatory compliance within the department and does not include direct personnel management responsibilities.Â
 Technical Supervisor- Pathology Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.Â
- Bachelor’s Degree in Cytology
- Completion of an accredited cytotechnology program
- Certification as Cytotechnologist (CT, ASCP) or equivalent required.Â
- This is a safety sensitive position. *
- Minimum Requirements:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow laboratory protocols and regulatory standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
- Proficiency with laboratory information systems (LIS) and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience working in an anatomic pathology laboratory.
- Certification as Cytotechnologist (CT, ASCP) or equivalent, with three years of experience.
- Preferred Requirements:
- Five years experience in anatomic pathology or cytology laboratory operations.
- Experience performing cytology screening quality assurance activities.Â
- Experience performing gross examination of biopsy specimens.
- Experience assisting with fine needle aspiration procedures or rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE).
- Experience with laboratory regulatory compliance, validation studies, and quality assurance programs.
