We are seeking a skilled Histology Technician to perform manual and automated histological procedures and prepare high-quality pathology slides for pathologist review. The role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and adherence to laboratory quality and safety standards.

Pay Rate: $32.5058–$48.7642/hr

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform tissue embedding, sectioning, and slide preparation
  • Perform and evaluate H&E, special stains, and immunohistochemistry
  • Verify positive and negative controls and document results
  • Maintain accurate testing, quality control, and equipment records
  • Identify and report issues with specimens, equipment, or testing
  • Ensure accuracy throughout pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic processes
  • Evaluate test results and follow established department protocols
  • Participate in quality assurance, proficiency testing, validations, audits, and inspections
  • Maintain laboratory inventory, including lot numbers, expiration dates, labeling, and QC requirements
  • Support regulatory compliance and laboratory readiness
  • Complete required training and continuing education
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment

Qualifications

  • Current NYS Clinical Laboratory Technician, Histotechnician, or NYS PA License required
  • Education meeting NYS Office of Professions and CLIA requirements
  • Degree in Medical Technology or related science preferred
  • 1+ year of relevant histology experience preferred
  • ASCP certification preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, flexibility, and adaptability
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage interruptions
  • Ability to remain stationary and perform detailed work for extended periods
  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment and computer systems continuously
  • Ability to work safely with laboratory chemicals and other workplace hazards
