Arcadis is seeking a construction Cost Estimator to join our Resilience Water Northeast team in New York.

The Cost Estimator plays a key role in supporting our clients on some of our most complex and high-impact projects. Core responsibilities include reviewing project constructability, performing quantity takeoffs, and developing cost estimates that reflect current market conditions across a variety of projects, primarily in the public sector.

This role will support pre-construction projects nationwide, as well as construction-phase projects primarily in the NYC and Westchester area, which may require occasional field visits.

In this role, you will leverage your cost estimating expertise to perform technically complex work and ensure project budgets remain accurate and complete throughout the project life-cycle.

During pre-construction you will develop cost estimates at a level of detail appropriate to the scope definition reflected in the design documents, in accordance with recommended practices and industry standards.

For projects that are in the construction phase, you will develop independent cost estimates for change orders to support contractor negotiations and collaborate with clients and other consultants.

Role accountabilities:

  • Develop cost estimates from conceptual design through 100% design, including quantity takeoff, pricing, vendor price verification, evaluation of historical cost data, and preparation of markups and indirect cost estimates in accordance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Review cost estimates prepared by consulting engineers for client planning, design and construction projects.
  • Advise on current market conditions and standard estimating practices and provide final recommendations on construction budgets for design projects.
  • Prepare independent estimates for change orders, review and analyze contractor change proposal requests, and facilitate negotiations involving associated cost and schedule impacts.
  • Prepare written basis of estimate reports to communicate cost estimating methodology, assumptions, and/or cost analysis findings to various stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with the Arcadis Digital Solutions Team to develop and implement cost data analytics and interactive reporting solutions using tools such as PowerApps and Power BI
  • Deliver presentations in-person and virtually for client meetings and industry organizations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management
  •  8 or more years’ experience as an estimator

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Sage Estimating (Timberline), MII, or similar estimating software, as well as Bluebeam or On-Screen takeoff tool
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Ability to develop a CPM schedule in Primavera P6
