Summary

The Senior Revenue & Pricing Analyst is mainly responsible for preparing the transmission asset revenue requirement/cost-of service (COS) studies; developing rate and cost recovery mechanisms and energy market evaluation and analysis; and supporting regulatory rate setting functions essential to recover the costs of providing transmission and production services to our customers.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and assure quality control for customer revenue requirement/cost-of-service (COS) studies and commodity rate models, address customer requests, and support statutory and contractual requirements for any proposed rate change.
  • Create new cost recovery methods, run reconciliations, and review and analyze results for Energy Charge Adjustment (ECA) processes. 
  • Contribute to rate setting processes, calculate customer bills for impact analyses, gather rate assumptions and inputs, develop supporting rate data, verify rates for accuracy, then communicate outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Generate customer savings and cost-benefit reports by comparing to existing market conditions in New York state. 
  • Lead the research on COS, rate engineering and market administration related to cost setting and recovery methods and trends, including monitoring and interpreting utilities, NYISO and PSC tariffs and procedures.
  • Calculate Hydroelectric Rate Stabilization Reserve (“RSR”), analyze the subject costs (operating and capital costs) and revenues (UCAP and ancillary services sales), and communicate RSR report to customer.
  • Provide data for response to FOIL (Freedom of Information Law) requests.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the electric utility industry, NYISO, Public Service Commission policies and ruling, and FERC policy.
  • Ability to perform statistical and quantitative analysis of financial, marketing and utility tariff data to make recommendations.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and project management skills with exceptional follow-through and attention to detail. 
  • Identify process automation and improvement opportunities to improve efficiency.

  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects with varying competing deadlines.
  • Strong ability to develop and deliver engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary for developing technical reports, writing critiques on technical documents and preparing technical procedures.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel is required, including pivot tables/charts, advanced sorting, vlookup, match, offset, data linking to Access, SAP and SQL databases, import of data from Excel, CSV and other flat file formats.

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Math or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of revenue, pricing and market analysis experience preferred.
  • Experience with electric utility, energy market, energy commodities, or power trading preferred.

Physical Requirements

Up to 25% travel primarily within NY State.
