The main purpose of the Warehouse Technician is to accurately receive and document all incoming freight, put stock away in allocated location, stock the warehouse, distribute direct charge items, process picking from warehouse, prepare outgoing freight to ship and document all, do physical counts, keep warehouse and yards organized and tidy, maintain housekeeping.


Safety

  • Maintain overall site statutory compliance with the WH&S Act 2020, and WH&S (General) Regulations 2022, and WH&S (Mines) Regulations to any appointed statutory position/s.
  • Ensure safe work systems/procedures are practised and adhered to at all times to ensure duties are performed in a manner that minimises risk to employees and contractors.
  • Maintain exemplary standard of housekeeping at all times, safe work, incident/accident reporting & active involvement in safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Understand and familiarise oneself with site Emergency evacuation procedures.
  • Abide by and proactively comply with Company policies, procedures, guidelines and systems, as well as all relevant legislation.

Technical / Role 

  • Receive, process and issue warehouse stock as required.
  • Receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, ensuring items are accurately counted, labelled and stored in appropriate locations
  • Maintain warehouse facility in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
  • Store and catalogue warehouse stocks in accordance with Company expectations.
  • Prepare and prioritize merchandise for delivery to the site as requested
  • Prepare packages for shipping and returns.
  • Communicate regularly with department leads to determine needs and providing them information of material status.
  • Promptly report discrepancies such as damaged or unmarked parts.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of stock.
  • Safely operate a variety of warehouse equipment such as forklift and vehicles, including performing all daily checks.
  • Organize the maintenance and repair of warehouse equipment as needed.
  • Properly locate and label all items for ease of access.
  • Assign and label new stock to their proper or new locations.
  • Process stock picking throughout the day to ensure records are up to date for ordering.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and thoroughly matching packing slips to purchase orders and record any non-conformances.
  • Load and unload trucks in a safe and timely manner.
  • Ensure that anything not completed is communicated to your cross-shift.
  • Provide reports to Procurement and Warehousing Supervisor as requested
  • Free issue and high-risk moving items are to be counted weekly using systems in place.
  • Complete annual counts of all warehouse stock in May of each year.
  • Report any slow/non-moving items to end users with a request to have them justify keeping the items in stock
  • Meet schedules and timelines


Teamwork

  • Communicate relevant information and data to other personnel through formalised shift changes and use data reporting systems.
  • Attend and actively participate in shift change meetings and provide accurate handover notes/information on problems, events and process changes to cross shift.
  • Identify specific areas that have the potential for improvement and cost savings.
  • Participate in and utilise the change management process for identified problems and opportunities to make improvements


Planning & Organization 

  • Prioritise and complete tasks accurately as to specifications as assigned by your Supervisor within required timeframes.
  • Be punctual to work and all required site meetings.
  • Undertake other duties as lawfully instructed.
  • Actively contribute to meetings.
