As a Lifeguard, you will help create a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for members and guests by actively supervising the pool, enforcing safety rules, and responding to emergencies when needed. Please note: this individual must be Lifeguard certified. Available Schedule: Monday-Friday: 7:30 AM-12:00 PM and/or 1:00 PM-2:00 PM Reliable transportation to either the Indiana Area Junior High School or Northern Cambria Junior High School is required. Responsibilities include: Provide continuous supervision of the pool and surrounding aquatic areas. Enforce pool rules and safety policies in a professional and consistent manner. Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, including water rescues, CPR, First Aid, and AED situations. Perform routine pool safety checks and document required chemical readings. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pool environment. Provide outstanding customer service to members, guests, and program participants. Assist with swim lessons, aquatic programs, and special events as needed. Report safety concerns, incidents, and maintenance issues promptly. Attend required staff meetings, trainings, certification updates, and in-service sessions. Support the YMCA's mission by demonstrating Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Teamwork in every interaction. Qualifications Must be at least 15 years of age. Current Lifeguard Certification (including CPR/AED and First Aid) preferred, or willingness and ability to obtain certification upon hire (certification costs apply). Strong swimming ability and the physical capability to perform water rescues. Ability to remain alert, attentive, and calm during emergency situations. Strong communication and customer service skills. Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently and as part of a team. Comfortable working in and around aquatic environments, including exposure to water, pool chemicals, heat, humidity, and wet surfaces. Must successfully complete all required background clearances and maintain required certifications throughout employment.
