General Summary of the Position

Supports the accounting department in carrying out the accounting duties and responsibilities for Jasper Ventures, Inc. and affiliated companies. This role plays a crucial role in maintaining financial records, performing reconciliations, preparing invoices, and ensuring accurate and compliant financial operations within the organization. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (following are accountabilities included but not limited to):

  • Prepare invoices and associated required documentation as directed.
  • Assists with entry and management of Company credit card transactions as directed.  
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Assists with monthly job costing of salaried employees and allocations of general expenses.
  • Aids the accounts payable team as directed.
  • Supports with monthly percentage complete calculations.
  • Supports with federal tax compliance and external audit support.
  • Ensures that all work is completed in a timely manner and a professional level of self-review.
  • Communicates with employees, clients, and vendors in a professional and respectful manner, appropriately responding to their questions, concerns, and complaints.
  • Other duties assigned to meet the needs of the business.

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have a high attention to detail.
  • Must be skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data.
  • Ability to rely on instruction and use pre-established guidelines to complete assigned work.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and complete assigned work.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to be a creative thinker and apply logic to processes.  
  • Must be organized to maintain accounting records.
  • Software used: Sage, QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
  • One or more years of experience in accounting in any industry is preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to perform work under supervision, following verbal and/or written instructions.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of financial data.

 

Work Context:

  • Typically works in the Whitehouse office, in cubicle setting.
  • Remote work available as assigned.
